Illinois Wood land at The Field Museum

Date

2008

Project type

Museum Exhibit Interactive Exhibit

Role

Sculptor

Location

Chicago, IL

This interactive exhibit is part of the Crown Family “Play Lab”.
The sculpture department had to incorporate lights, motion sensors, speakers and vitrines (that would later house taxidermied animals) into our construction of the Oak tree, sapling, fallen log and “crawl-through” hollow log.
Foam was sprayed onto a metal or cardboard structure, hard coated and then covered in “Flex Bark” or in Polygem and then “stamped” to blend with the bark.
This entire exhibit had to be structurally sound since it has to withstand whatever the children who visit this exhibit can dish out.
