Calcarea
Role
Test Knitter
My first collaboration with Brooklyn Tweed as a test Knitter. I was drawn to the unique geometric nature of this scarf and how it echoed hand loomed scarves I had worked on in the past. Knit with Loft; a 2-ply fingering weight yarn, gently woolen-spun from soft, springy American Targhee-Columbia wool. Loft has a unique bounce and airiness and knit up quick. I chose the color way Jam Jar for its speckled tonal varieties and yummy purple tones.
Brooklyn Tweed's website states that:
With an artist’s eye to geometry and negative space, Calcarea embraces liberated design and dynamic structure. Shaped with a subtle curve, this modular scarf features blocks of stockinette stitch bounded by panels of garter framing. Worked from end to end, stitches are bound off to form the vents, creating swaths of open space amid the otherwise simple fabric. Knit this imaginative accessory in a neutral to emphasize shape or frame in bold tones to accentuate the striking fabric gaps.
